HAPTIC LENS REMOVAL Have the patient look down. With the index finger over the lashes on the nasal side of the lid, bring the lid up and around the lens edge. As the lid is moved around the lens edge, the lid should go under the edge of the lens. The finger should be moved all the way around to the temporal side. Do NOT stop with the finger in the superior position, keep bringing the finger around to the temporal side. If only takes light pressure if done correctly. The lid margin must be kept tight against the sclera. The lens may just fall out of the eye at this point. If it does not, have the patient look up and the lens will roll out.
